NFL Youth Football Uniform Sets
football dude asked:
s=”KonaBody”>
Millions of young football fans cherish the idea of wearing the NFL clothing representing their favorite National Football League team. What keeps many from that dream is the price. Some NFL merchandise is pricey, particularly good quality jerseys. Many are being sold for hundreds of dollars, and the higher the quality, or rarer the item, the higher the price. Of course, there are cheap knockoffs of authentic NFL merchandise, however most young football fans will tell you quickly that these simply aren’t what they want. They want clothing that looks good, and something close to a real NFL jersey. The NFL brand carries a lot of weight with them.
Of course some NFL jerseys sold in retail outlets or online aren’t the real thing. If you’ve seen a real NFL jersey hanging on a wall in a football pub, you know how huge they are. Two people can fit comfortably into them. The jerseys were design for large men wearing even larger shoulder pads. Only the quarterbacks and kickers have shoulder pads that are comparatively smaller than the well padded ones that linebackers wear.
For small children however, a real NFL jersey is too heavy with designs that are too detailed for the child to appreciate. Kids like it simple and comfortable and they won’t appreciate an authentic NFL jersey so there’s no point in wasting money on it. A kids jersey needs to be made of a softer material with stitching that won’t cause itching and chafing. You can buy authentic NFL kids clothing online at an NFL shop. Many people buying sports jerseys or receiving them as Christmas gifts discover that they’re perhaps made for pickup football at the local park and not as casual wear.
Many NFL jerseys are purchased as collector’s items. An authentic team jersey signed by a well known National Football League star can fetch a good price at auction. Most recently, throw back jerseys have become popular. These have the designs, colors and team logos from year’s long past. You may even have throwback jerseys signed by former popular players like John Riggins, Jim Marshall, Dwight Clarke, Terry Bradshaw, Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Ken Stabler, Fran Tarkenton, and even coaches such as Mike Ditka.
NFL Merchandise is a very popular Christmas gift item. Sports fans appreciate these collectibles, particularly those that are unique. Sports Bars often lacking in decor ideas, are perfect locations for framed football jerseys. Nothing makes a better statement for your sports bar than the appearance of a signed NFL jersey up on the wall. You might want to have a jersey handy and ask a pro player to pay your bar a visit. Have them sign the Jersey. Then you’ve got a collectible that can impress your football fan patrons.
Baseball Caps for Football Fans
Another in-demand type of NFL merchandise is baseball caps with the various team NFL logos on them. It’s probably the least expensive way to adorn yourself with an NFL branded logo. Some merchandise manufacturers make NFL caps that have a rubber fan face built into it. Besides being a fun way to show you’re fan fanatic, it might help keep you warm on cold game days in these coming months.
For the rabid NFL or college football fan, an impressive Christmas gift is a headwig, or rubber fan face for wearing at parties or the game. And the price of this fanwear is great. For less than twenty dollars, you have some authentic NFL merchandise with the fan’s favorite colors and logo on it. Other items carried at an NFL shop are oversized inflatable footballs. These are a lot of fun for backyard play and take a lot of the seriousness out of the game. You can never have too much fun. For your car, you might want to block the Sun’s UV rays from your kids in the backseat. It doesn’t hurt to have a Steelers logo, or Jets logo, or Raider’s logo on it as well. Show your team pride.
The most popular teams for fan merchandise aren’t always what you’d expect. Fans in certain cities are very loyalty and spirited and they are more likely to get into the culture of football and adorn themselves with NFL branded clothing. Some of the more highly sought team merchandise is that of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Merchandise sales for the Steelers rose strongly after their recent win at the Superbowl.
Other teams that sell a lot of NFL merchandise are the Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers. To find an NFL teams merchandise check online via Google or Yahoo. You’ll find Chicago Bears Merchandise available at NFL.com or via the Bears official web site, and there are other NFL shops that offer official Chicago Bears merchandise. From collectibles to wearables, there are plenty of gift ideas for Christmas 2006. Stats show that fan interest in NFL football has continued to climb. Attendance at actual NFL games has risen and more games are shown on TV. That means fan-related items such as caps, fan faces, and headwigs are going to be present at all the games. Share the spirit this year with a visit to an NFL shop online.

Marketing Lessons from the Business of Football
Paul Johnson asked:
People don’t go to football games to watch football. Oh, a few people do, but not enough to come close to filling the stadium. To find out who the pure fans are, you’d have to do away with the video screens, the mascots, the cheerleaders, the halftime shows, any foods more exotic than hot dogs, soft drinks and peanuts, and then see who’s left in the stands. Would you still buy a ticket?
Football is more than a game; it’s also a business. The business of football has grown because the promise included with each ticket has grown to appeal to more than just the pure fans. Does your business cater solely to your pure fans? If so, you’re sitting on a tremendous growth opportunity.
No One Wants Your Product
We forget that people don’t really want our product; they want what they can do with our product. Take coffee as an example. If we focus on the coffee itself, it’s easy to get caught up in the price per pound or per cup, and the qualities that make coffee taste good or bad. Yet when we think about what we can do with the coffee, those factors become almost insignificant.
The place where coffee is served (the coffee shop) becomes the backdrop for a social event with friends or business acquaintances; the price of the coffee becomes insignificant. Perhaps coffee is the warm, comforting friend that accompanies us on our journey into the new book we just picked up at a Barnes and Noble book store. Whenever we buy coffee or football tickets or your product or service, we are buying much more than what the label on the package indicates.
Get a Feel for the Game
Football organizations discovered long ago they can enjoy significant boosts in business by looking at all the ways to serve their customers during a football game. By expanding the core product — the game on the field — to appeal to a larger audience, their market grows beyond the pure fans to include their spouses, other family members and their friends. In the process, football organizations enjoy multiple up-sell opportunities while engendering customer loyalty that keeps fans coming back. You don’t have to love football to love going to a football game.
While your product or service may not be as flashy and exciting as football, you can apply football’s marketing lessons to improve your market share, revenues and profits. If you don’t, you risk seeing your sales fall flat and watching business go to your competition. If companies can apply these marketing principles to a product as simple as coffee, you can win using these strategies, too.
Unfortunately, we may be too close to our product to successfully apply these principles. We likely know the features and benefits of our product inside and out, and understand all the things our customers can do with our product. What’s more important is that we step back and work to understand how people feel while using our product. Find out the feelings your customers associate with using your product or service, and then think of ways to give them more of those feelings. Here are three ways you can do that.
1. Ain’t I Social!
Many people use a product or service as an excuse to get together with other people. Football tickets, coffee shops, birthday cakes, bowling leagues – people may buy these products solely to enjoy the feelings they get when they’re experiencing them with other people.
Think of ways to get people who share a common interest in your product or service to socialize around it. Consider:
*** Conferences
*** Online chat rooms
*** Reunions
*** Rallies
*** User groups
*** Advanced training sessions
*** Charitable work
Any event, really, can be the perfect excuse for your customers to gather and experience the great positive feelings that will generate customer loyalty and keep them coming back for more.
2. Make it Memorable
When customers have a good experience with your product, they’ll want to repeat it so they can recreate those good feelings. Ideally our customers will talk about their experience with their friends and associates long after the experience is over. You can extend the power of this word of mouth effect. Help your customers remember their positive feelings long after the experience that created them is over.
Memories are heightened when emotions are involved. The stronger the emotions, the stronger the feelings, the longer and more powerfully we remember them. At football games we watch instant replays of key moments; the turning points and dazzling plays worth remembering. We buy programs that allow us to engage at a deeper level with the personal aspects of the players. Sometimes we’re provided with heart-stopping opportunities to win prizes. Souvenirs allow us to take the football game home with us; we can relive the feelings we had at the game simply by looking at or holding our souvenir.
Get your customers emotionally involved so they’ll long remember the positive experiences they have with your product or service.
*** Provide mementos.
*** Give them a chance to win something.
*** Deliver a nice surprise they don’t expect.
*** Give them moments with industry celebrities.
*** Take pictures, especially of them, to give them vivid reminders of the great experience they had.
Do these things, and they’ll do business with you over and over again.
3. Include the Fringe
Around your core customers — the pure fans — is a fringe of secondary customers you can easily access. These secondary customers may be spouses or friends of your core customers who are easily reached through viral marketing. Give thought as to how to provide for their social needs and create positive, memorable feelings that will encourage them to try you once and then come back again and again.
The football business has this figured out. The football lovers in a household have an easier time getting to games when their non-football-loving spouse is eager to go with them. That’s why a football ticket provides so much more than the game these days. While marketing the game to pure fans is a simple endeavor, football becomes a much better business when the offer is expanded to include the social and emotional aspects that appeal to the secondary market. For example, the Super Bowl has become more of a party than a game. People plan for and look forward to the huge social event that engulfs this championship game. Millions watch the Super Bowl on TV, yet few watch it alone.
Get in touch with your market and work to understand who your secondary customers are. Coffee shops gladly sell tea and soft drinks so their “regulars” can easily bring along their non-coffee drinking friends. Expand your marketing to include these secondary customers and you can boost your sales revenues by 50% and more.
The Game of Change
Football as a game hasn’t changed much over the decades. The proposal to permit challenge flags supported by video review was carefully debated by National Football League (NFL) officials before its adoption, all because the League knows this; never alienate your pure fans. They are the bedrock of your business. Keep delivering the solid, consistent product that keeps them coming back for more.
Don’t focus on improving your product. Instead, focus on improving the product experience. Once you understand the positive feelings your customers experience by using your product or service, look for ways to extend that experience. Sure, cream and sugar go with coffee. But so does a soft chair and soothing music. So does a well-written book of fiction. So does a table surrounded by family or friends.
Football is a game and it is a business. Look at your business like a game. How does it feel to do business with you today? Make your business social. Make it memorable. Make your business the game your customers are eager to play.

The Popular Game Football and Select Football Cleats That Fit
Subhash asked:
The story of football began sometime during the 19th century in England when a soccer player, frustrated at using only his feet to manipulate the ball, decided to simply pick it up and run with it. Although it was clearly against the rules of soccer, other players soon found the new way of playing soccer appealing and thus, the sport of rugby was born.
Football was still mainly American rugby—much different from the popular sport known today. Over the course of three years starting in 1880, Yale player Walter Camp eventually convinced the IFA to change a series of rules in football to create a game that is very similar today. For that, Camp is considered by historians as the father of modern football.

Football Kits: What Should be Included?
Soophott Lert asked:
is one of the most popular games, cherished all over the world with enthusiasm and thrills. Although the game is world famous, there are very few people who are aware of the proper laws of the game. As per the laws of football, the minimum equipment is required in the game, and the use of unsafe and unwanted equipment is strongly prohibited.
This is because the equipment not required in the game may harm the players of the opponent team. It is essential that football is played strictly as per the rules and regulations of the game. The popularity of football is growing rapidly throughout the world and efficient and well-organized football kits have hit the market for soccer lovers. These kits are a boon for all football lovers as well as those who are looking forward to playing the game.
Football Kits for Sure Success
The success of a football team depends largely on the kits used by the players. These kits not only serve as the basic support for the entire team, but also ensure the health and the safety of the team members. Players equipped with good quality football kits can successfully and easily deal with any troublesome situations that may be encountered whilst playing the game. A basic football kit generally incorporates the sport equipment and the game attire. These kits help the members to play in a relaxed mood and to give their best to the game.
The Contents of the Football Kits
Any elementary football kit will carry the sports attire and the basic equipment used in the sport. The attire in the football kit includes shirts, socks, shorts, footwear and the shin guards. Shoes and boots are also a crucial part of football kits. Special attire is available for the goal keeper so that he can be easily distinguished and recognized.
Special leg pads, caps and gloves are also available as the goal keeper is required to bar the goals coming at him fast. The goal keeper is also required to protect his head, legs and hands in order to escape serious injuries. Caps are important for them so that they can be protected from direct sunlight that hampers visibility and can cause the keeper to miss goals.
It is important to check the quality of the kit before purchasing the football kit. Apart from the major equipment, some football kits also carry sports accessories that the players use while playing.
Football Kits for Match Officials
The game of football is monitored and conducted by various match officials. There are football kits that are available for officials as well. The referees, assistant referees and the fourth officials wear the “all-black football kits”. Usually the jerseys that the referees wear during the game have a pocket sewn on them for keeping their notebook and yellow cards.
There are numerous, magnificent options of football kits that are easily available from the current market and online stores. Football enthusiasts always play the game with quality equipment and proper attire. The combination of both can be easily found in football kits.

Surviving Football Withdrawal – a Guide to Recognizing and Recovering From Football Dependency
Matthew Mulligan asked:
College Football’s season ending ‘hurrah’ that is bowl week heralds the conclusion of the 2008 season. For the more balanced among us, this signals the start of a new year and the chance to focus on surviving winter and to enjoy not having to cut the grass. For others, this time of year marks a merciful and justified end to more than four months of yelling, beer swilling, nacho loading and relationship damaging behavior.
2008 was notable for many formerly losing programs. Vanderbilt defeated Boston College 16-14 in the Music City Bowl on New Year’s Eve. This was Vanderbilt’s first bowl win since the Dwight Eisenhower Presidency and came over #24 Boston College. Not since Howdy Doody ruled Saturdays has Vanderbilt produced a post season victory. Vandy is now able to provide proof that the school indeed has a football program. Coming out of the cold after 53 years will provide enough fuel to keep the Commodore faithful happy through the offseason.
2008 saw many milestones achieved. It also saw some horrific collapses. Several formerly strong programs that expected to win, took a nosedive into the black hole of bowl in ineligibility. The Wolverines of mighty Michigan found out what life has been like for their Big-10 brethren at Indiana this year, as there was no bowl trip to a warm climate to salve the discomfort of a Michigan winter. Several programs that expected to be generating heat in the compost bin, didn’t fail to disappoint. Perennial doormats of the west, New Mexico State and Idaho managed to field teams that performed expectedly abysmally. The big surprise this year was former Pac-10 power program Washington. The team smelled like wet dogs as they competed with cross state rival Washington State to solidly anchor the worst group of 2008 football programs.
How do Husky fans survive the offseason? The obligatory firing of the old coach and replacement with poor Steve Sarkisian from USC will provide a few weeks of hope, but in the end, reality will set in just like the Puget Sound fog. The one bright spot is that expectations for Husky football are now set so low, that even a single win over a Division II school would qualify as a step in the right direction. UW is now trying to schedule Western Kentucky and Murray State just as soon as possible. But the purple dogs would be wise to remember Michigan scheduling Appalachian State at home some years ago. The maize and blue’s gagging in that game started the program spiraling into the septic tank. But well… if you are UW, there just isn’t much further to fall, so you may as well try and outbid Indiana and Nebraska to get Murray State to show up on your field.
How did we as a society get to a point where our daily happiness is dependent on how the alma mater did on the field? This question justifies some exploration as a good chunk of the autumn economy is driven by young, t-shirt clad alumni putting pizza, nachos and beer on their new American Express cards.
College football afternoons call to mind a time of hope and anticipation for university alumni. That time of being young and able to scope out the coeds with impunity is for many, the best and most hopeful time of their young lives. Many alumni get out into the world and before they realize it, find themselves with a mortgage, a wife and two great but loud kids. They wistfully look back on the feeling of exhilaration and optimism when they let themselves believe that Tammy C. from Accounting 101 might really go out with ‘em. For young alums the challenge is then to recreate those great feelings of exhilaration and optimism while encumbered by a real job.
University administrators take great advantage of this. Inviting alumni to fund raising events where they can mingle with students, alums and cheerleaders stirs just enough of that old college excitement that alumni are soon parted with significant sums of their money. When this occurs, a dysfunctional bond is created between alum and institution. Winning on the field becomes a validation of that relationship. And validation is important when going home to the wife to explain why one just contributed $500 to the University Therapy (read ‘Hot Tub’) fund.
Once the alumni and university relationship is firmly established, a dependency is created. Dependency like substance abuse gradually demands increasing contributions of attention and resources until a breaking point is reached. This breaking point typically occurs at the end of the football season when the credit card bills arrive and the wife is threatening to take the two loud kids and move to her cousin’s place near South Beach.
It should be noted that these dependencies are created in winning as well as losing environments. In winning environments however, there are more alumni to shoulder the burdens of keeping the players in hot tubs and nice cars. For rebuilding or losing programs, these dependencies really threaten financial health, family well being and all manner of relationships. So, before one has to endure news that his former wife is dating Rodrigo from the South Florida Modeling Agency, immediate action is required. Fortunately, science has provided us with at least two tactics that work.
Replacement
Replacing the substance at the core of the dependency is a common strategy. Frequently, an over dedicated alum turns his attention to the basketball program. The general strategy is to decrease the dependency though gradual reduction of the substituted environment. Unfortunately, an indoor sport doesn’t allow for nearly enough seating to bring enough alumni and cheerleaders together to generate the same level of interest and excitement that a big outdoor venue provides, so using basketball to replace football as an area of interest frequently fails.
The big risk to the replacement strategy occurs when a basketball program actually gets exciting. This creates yet another dependency that one has to wait until baseball season to cure. By this time, the ex-wife and Rodrigo will be a sipping Champaign in a hot tub of their own.
Should the replacement strategy be chosen, the author recommends hockey. Even at a professional level, hockey is fast enough to allow the viewer to forget about gawking at college aged coeds. And almost no one has hockey cheerleaders.
Many wives may be prevented from achieving the status of ex-wives by including them in the replacement area of interest. Replacement interests need not be sports related. Especially if one’s wife has participated to any degree in the football season, the recovering fan will need to consider all options for replacement – just to be fair. These areas may include opera, classical music and other artistic disciplines far removed from anything resembling a sweat sock.
Rebound
The term ‘rebound’ is a more clever way of saying quitting ‘cold turkey.’ After a period of time removed from the dependency, the fan will simply rebound to something resembling normalcy. Rebound depression is a natural consequence here, but… depression is better than sending off alimony checks to South Florida. The central tenant of the Rebound strategy is to tough it out, read the updates on what ridiculous statements the new coach makes, and watch as the best recruits in your area commit to USC. And just deal with it.
The more difficult part of this strategy comes when trying to talk the wife into unpacking the UHaul and telling her with a straight face that you will never again drop $400 to pick up the bar tab for the senior members of the Pom squad. Should the alum be successful in coaxing the wife into the house, he must actually make conversation about something meaningful – like life, love, finances and try to find areas of common interest.
These areas of common interest then overlap with the Replacement tactic as some of these conversations will require actual commitment and follow through. Attending an opera really isn’t the point of this. Should you get into a situation where you are committed to participate in something your very significant other is interested in, remember that you must actually ‘participate.’ When your wife attended a football game with you, she probably didn’t just sit there when your team scored. Now when the fat lady sings, you don’t stand up and do the wave, but you get the point. One must invest the effort to learn who Pavarotti was and what really distinguished him from John Mayer.
Joint Recovery
Occasionally, husband and wife teams will experience the same withdrawal and depression problems together. While it may appear to be an advantage to share a dedication to a particular football program, joint recoveries from football withdrawal are frequently more than twice the work. They are certainly almost twice as expensive. Since both parties to the relationship are involved in the problem, there is no one available with a strong connection to reality to set the baselines for expected behavior.
Connecting to reality is then the central part of a joint recovery. Reality consists of things like cleaning the house, paying the bills and shoveling snow. Sharing in these tasks is not something anyone would naturally give up Sports Center to do. However, the recovery requires tasks and chores to be shared. It also requires the couple to investigate what other areas of interest the relationship might pursue. These might include things like biking, hiking, dog walking – usually something ending in “ing” would work. This again implies action and participation. The exception – for obvious reasons – to this rule would be the addition of (new or more) kids to the relationship.
Concluding the 2008 football season is best done in some form of ritual. Something like taking the Christmas lights down or finally throwing out some salt on that driveway ice patch might help you get it into your head that it is winter outside. Football will have to wait until the spring game. And when the spring game does roll around, for God’s sake, don’t pay for a ticket to see it. Just let it go by and take the wife to a nice dinner. Otherwise, she and Rodrigo will be drinking rum and chomping calamari under a palm tree.

Now, There are Two of the Greatest! – Soccer Legends, Football Legends, Boxing Legends
Pranay Rupani asked:
Famous lines said by “The Greatest” Muhammad Ali (he often referred to himself as the greatest and his famous opening lines for the publicity of a fight was “I am the Greatest”) for the greatest footballer Pele. Since the popularization of sport through the technology and information boom, the word great has often been overused and wasted. Any sport which had a good fan base is now shown all across the globe through satellite television or the internet. None more than football (since there are about 5 billion people following the World Cup). There is no play, no foul, no player unknown or unreported. Now a player who would be termed as good or sometimes even average is tagged as great.
None deserve the greatest tag more then Edson Arantes Do Nascimento or as we know him better Pele. The face of football, “The King”, this little black boy from Brazil changed the way football was played. The Brazilians can be credited for making the game of football “Beautiful” and giving it the title “Beautiful Game” or “Jogo Bonito” (a term first and often used by Pele). Football is not an ordinary game it is the passion and life of the Brazilians, which we see in their flamboyant and artistic play. The good players play the game well and live up to expectations, but the great players change the way the game is played and exceed expectations.
Pele made the attacking style of Football what it is today. Yet he said “The only thing I wanted to do when I began playing football was to be as good as my father.” Pele was said to have a sense of when the ball would come to him, he seemed to know when he would get it. Ball control, goal scoring ability, passing skills he had them all. Pele is the soul of football. An argument which surfaces often is his comparison to Maradona (owing to the traditional rivalry between Brazil and Argentina) and truly both are one of the finest exponents of the game.
Pele believed in fair play and equal chances, Maradona on the other hand was not the ambassador for fair play and maybe that is the difference. Maradona had the “Hand of God” to support him win the greatest prize and Pele had Garincha, Zagallo, Rivelino, Jarzinio, Vava and the greatest football team ever assembled. Not to say Maradona did not have the talent, he did but somewhere along the line greed got the better of him. As Bellinio the Captain of Brazil in the 1958 had said “We are not here for the money, we are here to win the World Cup!”

Photo to Painting Company – Sponsors Argyll Athletic Football Club
james martin asked:
fyneart.com has done not too bad in the short time we have been on the internet, there has been some ups and there have been some downs but the end result is a business that has proved itself. A small business that is looking forward and ever upward and looking forward to the new year.
Fyneart has proved by its sales that our photo to painting product is affordable, value for money and the feedback we have been given has been summed up by one satisfied photo to painting customer with one word “amazin”. Our photo to canvas product has proved very popular indeed, in particular our colour splash and montage services, so popular in fact that at one point i feared we would not be able to keep up with demand.
I have therefore decided that its time to give a little back to my local community and fyneart is now the proud sponsors for the Argyll Athletic Football Club, the football team is doing well in local leagues and cups and although a very new football club have shown they have the skill and leadership to win win win.
The team from Ardrishaig are dedicated to its success and it is this dedication that led fyneart.com to come to sponsor the team, they will proudly wear the name of fyneart.com on their chests, fly the flag of AAFC and drive their competition homeward to thing again.
Good Luck to the club for 2009, good luck to all our customers, a special thanks to my wife and children for their patience and understanding during the crazy times and finally, thankyou to all our fyneart friends in particular to Wilma Mackenzie and the Luckenbooth Gallery for all your support in Tarbert, Argyll

2008 UEFA European Football Championship
Roger Munns asked:
Better known as Euro 2008, the UEFA European Football Championship was an exciting end to an eventful season. Qualification for the final began in August 2006 after the FIFA World Cup. Groups A, B, C and D, consisting of 16 teams, battled it out on the field to find out who would be going to Vienna for Euro 2008. Spain became the first team to win all matches in the group stage since France’s accomplishment in 1984.
In terms of international competitions, Germany is considered one of the most successful teams. They have won six distinguished titles, three World Cups and three European championships. Germany is also the only nation to have both men’s and women’s teams win World Cups.
In the Euro 2008 final, Spain and Germany faced off at the Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna, Austria on June 29. Full of confidence and excitement, both teams were welcomed by grandstands full of cheering fans. In the final, Spain defeated Germany 1-0. Adidas produced the ball used in the final and named it Europass Gloria. Europass Gloria is a version of Europass which was the 14-panel match ball used during qualifying games.
Spain’s David Villa injured his right thigh muscle during the semi-final win over Russia and was unable to compete in Euro 2008. “I’m a little sad that I won’t be there to take part, but it’s better that a teammate who is fit plays instead of me, particularly as my injury has left me limping quite badly,” Villa said before the game.
New Euro 2008 Trophy Style
The new trophy awarded to the winning team was almost an exact replica of the original that was designed by Arthus-Bertrand. The revised design no longer has the small figure juggling a ball on the back or the marble plinth. The new trophy is made of sterling silver, weighs 8 kilograms and is 60 centimeters tall. The silver base was enlarged, and the names of the winning countries were engraved on the back.
Euro 2008 Entertainment and Closing Ceremony
The championship’s closing ceremony featured Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias, who sang the tournament’s official song “Can You Hear Me” composed by Rollo Armstrong. Iglesias is a Madrid native with 18 No. 1 Spanish singles on the Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks.
Some of the nearly 400 artists and performers included Shaggy, Christina Sturmer, Rawbau, The White Stripes and others. The German dance group Bellini performed after each goal scored during the competition. Euro 2008 official mascots were named Trix and Flix after the names won 36% of the vote.
Welcome Home Celebrations
The Euro 2008 champions Spain were greeted by thousands of still-excited fans as they returned home. The team was paraded through town in an open-top bus as fans lined the streets, cheering them on. Coach Luis Aragones describes his team as “the best team in the world.”
Euro 2008 was Spain’s first European championship since 1964. A fitting official end to the celebration, a rendition of “We Are The Champions” was played over loudspeakers while red and yellow confetti showered party-goers.

Strength Training for Football
Patrick Beith asked:
Strength training for football is an artistic and scientific process. There are a lot of variables that must be considered. Players that serve different roles in the game need different training regimens. You have to do a little planning and take a structured approach to your strength training routines. Doing so will be greatly rewarding and bring out your inner champion!
Here is a quick list of facts that you need to keep in mind concerning your strength training for football. It isn’t just about how big and bulky you can get – quite the contrary actually.
? Bigger muscles are not necessarily stronger muscles o You need to not only develop the size of a given muscle; you need to actually be considering the muscle’s strength. That’s what it’s all about.
o A strong muscle is more than big; -.
o Many a big muscle is torn loose from the joint that it is meant to move. A torn muscle can literally take months, even years to heal fully. Some never do.
You develop tendon and ligament strength by taking your training seriously. Don’t attack your weight training like a crazy fool. Take your time. Pay attention to strict form in every rep. Perform your reps slowly and with full control. Haphazardly jerking or throwing the weight up and calling that a successful rep is not only careless; it is a false achievement. Weight training is about far more than just moving the weight from point A to point B. Remember that!
? Bulky muscles too often yield decreased speed, agility and finesse. o Especially for wide receivers, defensive backs and tailbacks, muscles need to be specifically trained for bursting power and speed. -. Football is no game for wimps. It is also not an event for big, slow, overly bulky pigs just because they might be able to bench 400 lbs in a quirky, jerky, off-balance fashion. Be real!
Do yourself and your team a serious favor and ensure that you will be around season after strenuous season to help out. Take your strength training for football very seriously. Slow down while at the gym. Develop your tendon and ligament strength along with your bulk. The end result will be superior, lightening fast, impossible to rip, explosive muscles that have the true strength of a beast! Now that is what you are after.
There are several types of strength training for football to consider. Football is versatile and needs versatility in strength training programs. Here are the types that we will address:
? Functional strength training for football ? Hypertrophy strength training for football ? Maximal strength training for football ? Power strength training for football
First, we will define each one and then address how to combine them all into the total athletic package for football.
Functional strength training for football:
Football can really put a hurtin’ on your body in a lot of different ways. Your body is twisted, bent, bounced and forced into uncountable positions of unnatural strain. You need to ensure bilaterally symmetrical development while engaging your strength training. That means that you give equal, animalistic (but controlled) effort to both sides of your body. You want symmetrical development, not lopsided malformation.
You also need to ensure that you never get so wrapped up in the development of your prime movers (quads, biceps, pecs, etc.) that you neglect your supporting muscle (hamstrings, triceps, calves, posterior delts, lower trapezius, etc.). The message here is that you must maintain balance. If you fail to develop your body in a symmetrical, holistic fashion, you are begging for injury.
Hypertrophy Strength Training for Football
Don’t let the hard-to-pronounce name fool you; an increase in muscle fiber size makes up for the improvement and increase in the muscle mass. This is the type of strength training for football that everyone thinks of. You get to concentrate on muscular growth and sheer bulk. Remember that even linemen should only dedicate roughly half of their strength training to hypertrophy strength. More than that and you are entering into the slow zone – the zone of painful injury because you lack agility and speed.
Maximal Strength Training for Football
In a nutshell, this refers to the development of cross sectional areas of each muscle. It is responsible for explosive power. You have to lift maximal loads in order to promote the development of these “fast twitch” motor units. Strength and power are close cousins. When you are performing maximal strength training, you explode into the lift. You fire a burst of energy into the weight propelling them to the desired destination. You must remember the first lesson about strict and proper form. Do not ruin your workout by flopping like a fish under the weight. If you have to do that, then take some of the weight off of the bar. Remember: you didn’t really lift it at all if you flopped your way through it. More importantly, flopping and squirming invites bench-sitting injury. Believe it!
Power Strength Training for Football
You have to possess the ability to instantly convert all of your strength into booming power to prevail on the football field. When you collide at full speed with an equally strong opponent, he who has the most explosiveness will shine with victory – not to mention instilling a demoralizing fear in said opponent. You have to accentuate your functional, hypertrophy and maximal training sessions with power strength training. You want your CNS to recruit fast twitch muscle fibers as quickly as possible. Now that you understand that more than just going in and fish-flopping through your workouts is needed in order to develop the total package for football, you need to understand something else: Cycle training. If you wish to optimize your strength training for football, then you have to incorporate all of the above training methods.
Develop a timeline. Construct a program to cycle through each of the training types in succession. Functional training is followed by hypertrophy work. Follow that with 4 weeks each of maximal and power training and then repeat. Vary your training. You do not want your body to plateau so training cannot be the same consistantly. Think of your body as a multifaceted machine that needs different care at different times. Always take your time with each individual rep to ensure proper form. Develop symmetrically. Develop tendon and ligament strength. You must develop size and power!
Release your inner beast through diverse and intelligent training and rule the field!
